    This is a good start to your research. I've made some suggestions for further reading below, including material on video games and gender:

    Struggling for ordinary media and transgender belonging in everyday life
    Identity in animation : a journey into self, difference, culture and the body
    Gaming representation : race, gender, and sexuality in video games

    On video games : the visual politics of race, gender and space


    Also, make use of the Library's online journals search for academic writing on the cartoons you are covering. Here are some example searches to show what's available:
